Homotypic Synonyms:- Thlaspi creticum, Thlaspi graecum subsp. creticum,
Thlaspi microphyllum subsp. creticum.

Meaning:- Noccaea, meaning unknown.
                  Cretica (L) From Crete, Cretan.

General description:- Dwarf, laxly caespitose, glabrous perennial.

Stems:-
1) 1.5-5 cm tall. 

Leaves:-
1) Basal, petiolate.
2) Blade, elliptic-obovate, entire or denticulate.
3) Cauline, sessile, ovate-oblong.

Flowers:-
1) Raceme, very short, scarcely elongating in fruit.
2) Petals, 3.5-4 mm, broadly linear to narrowly obovate, white.
3) Anthers, usually violet.
4) Style c. 0.5 mm.

Fruit:-
1) Siliculae, c. 6 mm, obovate, narrowly winged. apical notch very shallow.

Habitat:- Rocky limestone slopes, rock ledges, seasonally damp screes and
dolines, 1400-2000 m.

Distribution:- A Cretan endemic, restricted to the three main mountain massifs;
related to N. graeca and N. microphylla from Peloponnisos and the Greek mainland.
